North Coast outage – Fort Bragg to Westport

We are experiencing a total network outage on the North Coast due to the ongoing county-wide power outage.  Backup batteries have been depleted and the backup generator at our Fort Bragg tower site did not start as it was supposed to.
Service will be restored to subscribers hopefully as soon as PG&E power is restored and we will work with the owners of the Fort Bragg tower site to determine why the backup generator has failed.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Blue Lakes outage

At just before 5PM our entire Blue Lakes network went down.  I suspect it is related to the ongoing power outage and our backup batteries being depleted.  Unfortunately we won’t have access to assess further until Hwy 20 is re-opened.  If power is restored before that time, service should be restored too.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Update – Further power-related service interruptions

Our fiber provider’s backup power supply is in place again and service has been restored.  It is unclear what the run-time will be for their generators so further interruptions are possible.  Our network currently has adequate backup power to make it through the day and into the evening.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Further power-related service interruptions

PG&E power is out for much of Mendocino County currently again.  This is causing problems for our upstream fiber providers.  They must manually start generators apparently in this situation.
We await the upstream provider to rectify their power problem and then things should be back up and running for our subscribers.  Our network is otherwise fully operational on backup power currently.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Power related service interruption – Resolved for now

Power currently appears to be restored (via backup generator) for the affected fiber circuit and service to our subscribers has been restored.
PG&E electric service still seems to be out for most of the county and parts of Lake County as well.
I continue to monitor things and will update as needed.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Power related service interruption

A wide-spread power outage is causing a service interruption to our subscribers currently.  Our entire network is operational and on battery power but fiber that we lease to the bay area (and the rest of the world) is down, apparently due to the power outage.  I’m on the phone with the fiber provider to determine when they might bother to have a working generator for backup power.
Updates to follow.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Backhaul maintenance – McNab Ranch/Hopland

Tomorrow morning starting at 8AM I’ll be performing maintenance on a link that serves McNab Ranch, Russian River Estates, and Hopland.  No service interruption is expected but temporary slowdowns may be experienced while I perform this maintenance.  This should increase capacity on this link during peak times.
Thanks,
– Jacob
