A relay that serves a number of subscribers on Feliz Creek Road in Hopland has gone offline as of 11:30 this morning. We are currently diagnosing the issue and hope to have more info soon.

Tomorrow between the hours of 10AM and Noon we will be upgrading and replacing routers at some sites in Blue Lakes. There will be short (5 minute) interruptions for subscribers served from each individual site while we perform these upgrades.

Service has been restored to most subscribers in Blue Lakes as of 6PM this evening. Currently the area is being fed by a temporary wireless link as the fiber feeding the area is still damaged. Subscribers may experience slower service than normal until the melted fiber along highway 20 is repaired.

There have been a few dramatic slowdowns this evening, affecting traffic to subscribers on much of our network. I’m currently working on tracking the cause down, it’s unclear at this point if the issue within our network or something external with an upstream provider.
More to follow.

We are experiencing a total network outage on the North Coast due to the ongoing county-wide power outage. Backup batteries have been depleted and the backup generator at our Fort Bragg tower site did not start as it was supposed to.
Service will be restored to subscribers hopefully as soon as PG&E power is restored and we will work with the owners of the Fort Bragg tower site to determine why the backup generator has failed.
Thanks,
– Jacob

At just before 5PM our entire Blue Lakes network went down. I suspect it is related to the ongoing power outage and our backup batteries being depleted. Unfortunately we won’t have access to assess further until Hwy 20 is re-opened. If power is restored before that time, service should be restored too.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Our fiber provider’s backup power supply is in place again and service has been restored. It is unclear what the run-time will be for their generators so further interruptions are possible. Our network currently has adequate backup power to make it through the day and into the evening.

PG&E power is out for much of Mendocino County currently again. This is causing problems for our upstream fiber providers. They must manually start generators apparently in this situation.
We await the upstream provider to rectify their power problem and then things should be back up and running for our subscribers. Our network is otherwise fully operational on backup power currently.
Thanks,
– Jacob

Power currently appears to be restored (via backup generator) for the affected fiber circuit and service to our subscribers has been restored.
PG&E electric service still seems to be out for most of the county and parts of Lake County as well.
I continue to monitor things and will update as needed.
Thanks,
– Jacob
